A Message From Your Mod

April 2, 2011

Hello all!

I just wanted to remind you that when sending in your stories, we need you to give us a location. You can be as specific as the city or town, or as general as the country, but we need something so readers can have some context for your story!

Thanks for sending in your stories, and please keep it up!

Cath Elliott endorses MFIF in her feminist blogs of the year

September 16, 2010

In reaction to Total Politics‘s Annual Blog Poll, Cath Elliott has produced her own list of the best blogs – with a feminist slant.

“in an effort to counteract this oversight/deliberate snub of women’s contribution to the www, I’ve come up with my own list. Unlike the men’s list though, mine isn’t ranked, a) because I’m not into all that competitive hierarchical shite and b) because quite frankly I couldn’t be arsed. Instead it’s in alphabetical order, mainly because I’m an ex librarian and that’s how I roll.

MFIF is featured, and we’re very proud.

Clean vagina = career success

August 29, 2010

Want a raise? Wash that vagina, ladies.

A grotesquely sexist ad placed in a popular US women’s Magazine, Women’s Day. Spending years becoming educated and being a good worker has nothing to do with our worth, it’s whether or not we douche in the middle of the day that will get us a raise? WTF Summer’s Eve, WTF Women’s Day?

Our Fault We’re Female, I guess.

Helping MFIF to grow

August 23, 2010

Dear all,

I have started to notice that news based MFIFs, such as those about the recent Australian elections, a recent incident in Philadelphia, and a post on Dulux all garnered great hits, and started debate.

Therefore I would like more of these #tips for MFIF, as well as our traditional story format.

-news items
-sexist advertising
-high profile cases in court

are particularly of interest.

Remember: is interested.

MFIF community: Help Ms Perplexed

August 20, 2010

Thought I’d post this to see if I could get some opinions from the MFIF community! I’m in my late 20s and am currently in my DREAM job. Unfortunately, said job is with a charitable organisation, and they can only afford to pay me for 30 hours a week. As I also have a 2 year old boy, I like the flexibility and the time I can spend with him. My husband works really long hours on our company where he is the managing director (I’ve only got my name on there, I don’t really do anything at all).

Let’s also start by saying I wasn’t born with that magical “girl” gene which makes me good at cooking and cleaning, and I think it’s also fair to say, I might be a bit on the lazy side, preferring to stop at “passable” instead of “impeccable” when it comes to both!

so, my darling husband and I have had increasingly more fights as he does most of the cooking (he was born with the magical “girl” gene and has often rescued one of my concoctions).

Is it #MFIF? or am I being hypersensitive, and should learn to cook, and do all the cleaning as I only work 30 hrs?
