Colorado Abortion Amendment defeated, anti-abortion candidate loses in same state

70% of voters on November 2 voted down the amendment to Colorado’s constitution, which would have made a foetus a person:

Section 32. Person defined. As used in sections 3, 6, and 25 of Article II of the state constitution, the term “person” shall apply to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being.

Ken Buck, wannabe Senator, lost to the moderate Democrat Michael Bennet, in part because of his disregard for women’s rights, and in part because he decided not to prosecute a rapist who himself admitted to the crime.

UPDATE: via AH Ken Buck also stated, before losing:

“Why should you vote for me? Because I do not wear high heels.”

Clearly a woman in pumps wouldn’t be able to handle being a senator.

If your only good point when it comes to being voted in for Senator is that you aren’t a woman or a transvestite, then clearly the rest of your campaign is seriously defective and you just lost roughly 50% of your voters.

Honestly, how could he seriously have believed that he could get enough votes with that kind of debasing attitude?

I followed this race on CNN, and the voter breakdown reflected exactly that. Buck’s voters were overwhelmingly male, while Bennet had a much more equal share between men and women. Gee, who’d have thought that being openly contemptuous toward half your voter base would, y’know, cost you a lot of their votes!

How disgusting. I’m glad he lost.

Do we yet even define when the biological development of a human being even begins? Is it at birth, conception, or before with the egg and sperm? Or somewhere in the middle? I wish these lunatics would stop trying to go back in time to make abortion illegal and instead let each individual decide for herself whether to continue or discontinue the pregnancy!

The loony spokeswoman for 62 (who was involved with it when it was 40-something last election) issued a statement right after they lost as quickly as last year, and in the same proportions, that they were “excited to try again next election.” It’s hard to take them terribly seriously in the first place, but that just tanked it for me. I mean, really, the people of this state have twice swiftly told you they don’t want the bullshit you’re peddling, but you’re going to do it again? Pity and amusement are about all I can feel for them at this point.
