Women’s rugby: say what now?

Woke up this morning to the awesome news that the New Zealand women’s rugby team (The Black Ferns) won the Rugby World Cup for the 4th year in a row, and yet hardly a mention on the news or radio stations…

More news about our men’s team (The All Blacks) who haven’t won a world cup since its inaugural match in 1987!!!

I guess no one really wants to hear about the winners, it’s #TFTF

Mod: I read a piece about this in the UK newspaper The Observer on Sunday.

Just wodnering why it’s the women’s world cup when the other one isn’t the men’s world cup? Why not just the name-of-trophy world cup?

I have a feeling its because they wouldn’t ever face each other in a tournament, and (though i am not familiar with the sport,) the men were probably the first people playing the sport at a professional level.

… and the german women are going to win the world soccer championship next year the third time in a row (taking the cup).
