I agree as well. It is sad that you actually need to prime someone with a relationship status for them to acknowledge that you are actually human and a person to respect. Quite bizarre.

Yeah that is totally weird to me too. My parents and grandparents were into hiking and were always dragging me and my sister up to the North Carolina mountains (we lived in Miami — my grandparents had a summer home in North Carolina) to go hiking in the various parks. I’ve fallen off the hiking habit even though I live in Virginia now because I’ve gotten out of shape over the years, but the idea that hiking is unfeminine is bizarre to me. Especially coming from a woman that used to be a girl guide leader and who used to go camping herself! Maybe she gets that atavistic idea from her husband? I’ve known women who did 180 degree personality changes when they got married…

Anyway, I was always under the impression that hiking was neither masculine nor feminine, but an American thing. It’s that whole sporty, outdoorsy, go fishing and hiking and picnicking and basically go outside when the weather is nice thing.

Just stumbled upon this while considering the question myself. Up until now (year and a half after highschool) I’ve only shaved if I felt self-conscious, or for a guy. I loved the comments here! It’s really encouraging to see how many people have had good experiences with this. I think it’s about time I put down the razor for good. I always thought it was kind of silly (not to mention painful!), anyway.

“Forest slut” – this needs a T-shirt! I also love hiking and camping, though I tend not to go backcountry. Have you been to the Cup and Saucer on Manitoulin Island (Ontario)? I don’t know if it’s still operational, but back in the day it was one of the most breathtaking around. This post makes me want to look up hiking in Kentucky.

I texted my friend last month that I was going to start a new trend and not shave this summer. She clearly thought I was joking and responded “EEWWW hahah” and I responded seriously, Why not? Guys don’t shave, why should women have to shave? The only reason we shave is to make guys like us.

Yeah she never wrote back. IT IS JUST TOO ABNORMAL AND ABNORMAL IS WRONG. People are so stupid. I really need new friends.

WTF. The mediator should know the name of the attorney beforehand if she actually cared about the case. I’ve been to mediations before, I used to work at a Law Office and I’ve watched the action take place. That is really unprofessional to say “Oh, I bet you get that all the time”. I would have been like, actually no I don’t but THANK YOU for pointing out how UNUSUAL it is for females to be lawyers. Please, like half of females are lawyers nowadays! (My sister’s in law school, she’s a natural HBIC and this makes me quite proud).

Yeah I would have dumped him.

A “very nice guy” would not say your boobs are too small. He may think it, disappointed, but would not verbalize it because he would not want to disrespect his girlfriend.
